Long-tail guide / email delivery
Not receiving the ChatGPT password reset email?
Before trying random reset links, confirm the account’s login method and work through the inbox checks below.
Use only the official recovery flow. A reset email should never require you to send a password, one-time code, session token, or API key to a third-party site.
Inbox checks
- Search for the official sender and “password reset” in all folders.
- Check spam, promotions, quarantine, and any company mail filter.
- Confirm that you entered the same email address used for the account.
- Wait briefly before requesting another email so the newest link is easy to identify.
- Open only the newest recovery message and inspect its destination before continuing.
Check whether you used social login
If you originally chose Google, Apple, or another identity provider, use that provider’s sign-in button. There may not be a separate ChatGPT password-reset email for that login method.
If nothing arrives
Try the official sign-in flow again from a clean browser session, then contact the OpenAI Help Center. Do not create a second account just to bypass a recovery problem unless official support directs you to do so.
Is this a usage problem instead?
If you receive email normally and can sign in, but the product says you reached a limit, read the usage-limit guide. Password email delivery is unrelated to a model or message allowance.
