Codex reset: usage windows and safe checks
Codex, ChatGPT Work, and other tool experiences can have limits that do not behave exactly like ordinary ChatGPT conversation limits.
Do not assume one reset applies everywhere. Check the exact product, model, workspace, and message before deciding that a Codex or tool limit has reset.
Why Codex and ChatGPT limits can differ
Different tools may have their own allowance, model availability, or rolling window. A limit in a coding tool does not automatically describe your normal ChatGPT conversation allowance, and a change in one product may not change another.
What to record
- The product or interface where the message appeared.
- The model, tool, or workspace involved.
- The exact wording and any time shown.
- The timezone used by the message.
- Whether the issue is a limit, a login problem, billing, or a service issue.
Safe next steps
- Read the official message and documentation for that product.
- Use an available model, workspace, or tool only if the interface offers it.
- Set a local check time with the usage clock when a window is stated.
- Do not paste API keys, credentials, or session tokens into a tracker.
- Use the official Help Center when the message persists or involves billing/account access.
